Christianity Inside-Out

Hagia Sophia with daughters Faith, Hope, and Love in Thessaloniki, Greece

A four week, donation based class lead by our Executive Director, Dr. Celene Lillie. Click here to learn more about this Fall 2017 Education event.

Christianity Inside-Out

The story of early Christianity often gets told as one of insiders and outsiders, as one of orthodoxy or heresy.  But, the more historians explore the world of the early Christians the messier the story seems.  What did the first generations of Jesus followers believe?  What were the questions they were addressing?  What’s at stake for us today in the ways we tell the story of the beginnings of the Jesus movement?  Please join Dr. Celene Lillie and the Tanho Center for a four-week, donation-based class exploring the world of early Christianity.

From the Tanho Center--a ten-week meditation series to begin and end your week:

Alive in Troubled Times

Join us in taking a few minutes a day to acknowledge these troubled times and claim a sense of being alive. We find ourselves enlivened by newly discovered ancient texts from the earliest Jesus movements. A new reflection arrives on our website, here, and our Facebook page Monday and Friday for the next nine weeks. Simply like our Facebook page to ensure you don't miss a reflection.

Many thanks to all of those who joined us on the Tanho Center's first travel seminar to Greece!  We had an amazing time in May exploring the Greco-Roman world in which Christianity emerged in Greece!  Click here to see more photos from the trip, and stay tuned for information about our 2018 travel seminar.

Who We Are

Alive! The Tanho Center is dedicated to the exploration of the many discoveries of texts from the earliest Christ movements. By incorporating recently discovered texts into contemporary practices, we hope to signify exactly what tanho means in Coptic: “to make or be alive.”
